Dopamine is a neurotransmitter found in the brain that is needed for normal functioning of the central nervous system. Speed is a drug that can be prescribed or can be found as a street drug, otherwise known as crystal meth. Its causes arousal in the brain and central nervous system. "Playing video games doubles the amount of dopamine in the brain which is equivalent to a dose of speed". What do you think about that quote? Believe it or not?

I beleive it is real because if they can put transmitters in peoples skin I'm sure that they can put a speed in someones brain to help them think and make decisions. Playing video games I don't think doubles the amount of dopamine in because when I play I don't really get that much of a rush out of it.
I found that many other people typed the same type of idea about the speaker and how he was realistic and made sense.
As for this new quote I dont beleive it. Where I used to live I could see a lot of people when they were on drugs. They would be walking around and doing wierd stuff and you would just know what they were up to. I also play quite a bit of video games on the weekends but I still feel normal but when I talk to my old friends on the game everything seems to be more funny. I don't really know what to say, I think playing may increase your dopamine but not double it.
i think that the brain dopamine is equal to the speed drug because when you play video games you don't get tired you just stay awake and sit there and keep playing. yes i do believe that speed is equal to the dopamine that your brain gives off.
me i say they can be similar
booster but i would'nt deal with
the speed because sometimes the speed can take it a little to far
and plus its SPEED man like come on if you wanna do it like that
go a head ill pass on that
I can't see how playing a vidio game can do the same for your brain as taking speed. I'm thinking that you would have to play that vidio game for a long time to get the same results. If i had to choose to do something about my brain to function properly I would probably play a vidio game for the required amount of time just because I don't know what else speed does to my body and health.
I believe its as power, because when i play video game, I get wicked excited when im winning or somethin, and want to play it more and then you start to get addicted to the game and you play all the time.

I thought all the comments were great on the crime stoppers and Oprah show clip because all were more than one sentence. A lot were even two paragraphs long. I guess there was a lot to talk about.
I honestly dont beleive we double the amount of dopemine by playing video games. In fact, I get sleepy playing videos games most of the time, unless im doing an all nighter with my friends and we play video games then, but thats usually because of the energy drinks. But if it is true, I guess Im doing drugs by playing video games...
I agree with Htet when she said that the speaker on Oprah was touching. It's not corny though, it's true. This man was very inspirational and is doing good for others even though he is going to die soon.
I would have to say that I don't believe that playing video games doubles the amount of Dopamine in the brain. Well atleast not with the information I have been presented with. If I had a better source of information and some sort of studies that show it then I probably would, but right now I don't have a reason to believe that. Also, if video games increase this then what about 3-D movies and shows at the I-MAX? I think that those are quite like video games so they would most likely harm you too.
I think that the comment on the day eight blog were good, and some people showed a strong point in their blogson the crime stoppers and the movie clip.
The Qoute on the video games probably isn't true because when I play video games I don't feel any better then before.
I think that you can get the speed as on the drug or actually doing it. I mean you sit there for hours playing a video game and then you may get the rush. Do i believe it? YES and NO i have to say it is 50/50. Some people may feel that they get the rush and others may not. The diffrence is that playing video games is normal. Getting the drug from a doctor is normal. And getting it off the street is not normal. That is illegal and may do more damage. So i guess it's your choice to play video games and feel it or get it off the street. What would you choose? I dont play video games but I would definitly not get it off the street. If I had a choice I would pick to choose the video game rather then doing something that may hurt me more and that is illegal.
I think riley's blog was okay it could of been better. He didnt really write enough.
I think it is true because when i play video games a get all into the game and get like wicked big rush.
I think that comment is true because I can play video games for hours on end without stopping at all, also when your playing you can't listen to anyone because you are so zoned in.
I agree with Nick because he has lots of information even though he wasnt there for half of it.... about that drug thing i think it is real because it all sounds real and it has lots of educational wods in that quote
I really think Rileys blog is very true you play video games and you win and you want to go farther and farther then you go and see yourself addicted to a game this is the same with drugs.
I agree with it because it sounds real and it backs it up with info.....I think that tanners was very good because he had some good thoughts and backs it up with info!
i agree with tillman's comment because i also believe that you can put speed in someones brain, but i do not think that video games double the amount of dopamine in the brian
I liked courtney and colby's comments about the crime stoppers presentation.
I don't think that video games are equivalent to a dose of speed because i don't think you can get high or something from playing video games. Video games are addicting but I don't think they are equil to a dose of speed.
i agree with riliey and think that the presentation was good for all ages.
I agree with Courtney and what she said. If I could write mine better that's how I would write it :P
With the Dopamine, I sort of think that it is true what they said about the video games. Sometimes you do get a rush, and sometimes you don't. It's stil better then getting it off of the street, like Casey said.
I do not believe that playing video games is not the same as taking meth. The comments were wonderful on the Oprah show and the Crime Stoppers prez.
Haha i think everyone said the same thing as everyone else and it's all true.
That quote is probably true, because when i'm playing video games and i win i just want to start over again and defeat someone else!
I completely agree with Linzi's comment. If I had studies showing this, I would believe it. But For now, don't believe this quote. I don't believe it becasue taking Crystal Meth wrecks your body and your mind. Crystal meth comes out on your skin as scabs, and people who play vidoe games normally don't have any symptoms of meth.
I agree with what everyone commented on about the oprah show and the crime stoppers presentation i think everyone knows what they are talking about. I belive that playing video games nonstop is like doing crystal mythe, Because when you get hooked on it there is no way your going to stop and you are just going to keep on doing it.
Video games are like drugs?!? NO!
i cant see how that playing video games is the same as taking speed. playing videogames is like watching the T.V, does the T.V do that? no! i beleive that quote in an un-educated guess.
