"Kids see more than 250 000 commercials aimed at their appearance by the age of 17". How do you think this may affect the way kids think about themselves? Do you think it may affect some kids' self esteem and self confidence?What could be the worst case scenario for kids that are affected by such commercials? Let me know how commercials of this sort make you feel.

kids probably think that if they dont look like the people on t.v they dont look good at all, but it is really not true because you are your own person, people on t.v are more then likely fake.
I think it will affect people by causing them to think they dont look good and they could look like the people in those commercials by using the products beng sold in the commercial.

it doesnt make me feel bad but it would make kids who dont like them self as it is to not like themself even more
Kids, especially girls, may lower their self esteem because of the commercials they see about body image. Hearing and seeing people on television targeting you on being overweight, or unhealthy could make them think less of themselves. A worst case scenario of kids that are affected would be something such as eating disorders. Commercials like this make me wonder how other people are feeling. If someone with anorexia or recovering from it hears that who knows what they would think of themselves then. These ads are to make money and make everyone else not feel good about themselves.
This effects some kids in huge ways. Some of them think that they have to be exactly that way and they can't live with out being that way. I think that it does affect some of the kids confidence and self esteem.It don't care about those types of commercials, they are not important to me.
After kids see comercials aimed at their appearance they usually have a low self esteem. they start to think their ugly and fat and they can get really depressed. the worst case senario for kids that are affected by these comercials can get so depressed that they can eventually commit suicide. these comercials make me sick because barely anyone really looks like that and they shouldnt have to.
This may affect a lot of people. The people it would affect the most are the people who have been teased or made fun of in the past. These commercials may influence kids and teens into bad things such as depression and drugs, if they feel bad enough. I am pretty sure I have seen a few commercials in the past that made me feel like I need to change my appearance.
Kids will get really affected by some of these commercials that affect there image,appearance, and your feelings. People will just hate themselves after thay see of what is happening to them. They will feel really depressed and emotional.The worst scenario is that kids will want to just be alone and never will want to be talked to. Some of the commercials that are on t.v. that I see are really sad, like the people that are dieng of starvation in Africa and other areas.
I think that commercials that show woman and men in good shape and good looking i dont think that they know what they are doing to some people. I know this one girl, i'm not saying any names, but she was wachting this one commercial and it was dite it pills. She bought some pills and she was taking them every day. Even though she is not over wight. Ever since she has been taking those pills she is now under wight, she is not the same.
Yes, i do think that this may affect the way kids think about themselves because when they watch the commercials and they may think that it is the way that they have to be or thats how they have to act. Yes i do think it might affect some peoples self esteem because they see those people on the commercials and think that that is the way that they have to be like and look like and they get down on themselves because they don't. The worst case scenario for kids who see these commercial would be that they see something like a commercial for alcohol and they think to try it and they do, then they start to get into the party scene and start to try out drugs, and some of the people that do this actually die from it. I feel that some of these commercials are unneseccary and shouldn't be able to be on the tv.
This can affect the way kids think about themselves by making them think that you must be skinny or you must be the most gorgeous person in a room. I do think effects how some kids think about themselves. They may not want to do sertan things becasue they don't look like everyone else and that results in lack of selfesteem and confidence. The worst senario for kids that are affecteed by these commercials would be anorexia nervosa, bulemia, and some may result in suicide. Commercials really don't affect how I think about myself.
I think these commercials can be more realistic. Yes, the people are real, but dont you think it's too perfect?
These commercials may affect some people self esteem because they don't look like that. The people watching these commercials feel like they should look they way these people in the commercials do.
It does'nt bug me that these commercials are the way they are. But I'm not saying i'm perfect either.
I think this will effect them by not being as confedent in them self and if they are not there behavior could change and marks may drop if it is really bad.

These kind of commercials don't effect me because i don't really pay attention to them.
It affects the way kids think of themselves. Usually it makes them feel lower, but media will always effect people, ecspecially teenagers. It's the teenagers/kids that give into the typical stereotype on t.v. They need to know it isn't them on that t.v, and that they're their own person. But it'll always be like this. It's the media insudtry, they have to sell there product, the only way they'll sell that product is if it's on beautiful people. I don't like the way it affects teenagers/kids self esteem, but this is how it is.
It affects them by watching too much T.V. and it also affects their image on how they look and their appearance. It affects their self-esteem by seeing what is happening to themselves by the commercials they see on T.V. The worst case for kids would be that they are offended by commercials from talking about their image and appearance.Commercials make me feel really happy to know what's going on in the media and the world so then i can buy their products. Commercials only bother me when they show it every 20 minutes like movies, once in a while great.
Kids might think of themselves of not being the perfect person like those models on tv. The worst case scenario could be that the kids might do what the people such as those drinking commercials.They might look like there having fun but you would have to think of the consequences of drinking.The commercials doen't bug me cause i doen't watch tv as much.
I think that this can leave a lasting impression on all of the viewers. First of all commercials with people that have a healthy body weight and is a good encouaging commercial then it can have a positive influence. On the flip side of that if it is a commercial with a negative message and is just upsetting to all of the viewers then that has a negative effect.
It does affect some peoples self confidence because you always will have that little voice, expecially when you are growing up that will always tell you, that you are not good enough and not pretty enough. These kids do not need to hear it from outside sources as well, or from their peers. So it does affect them a little. The worst case senerio that is that younge women would develop an eating disorder of some kind(Anorexia, Blumia, Compusive) just because that they do not feel pretty or skinny enough. For young boys, it is that they are not muscular and strong or even tall. so that they will work out and sometimes get into steriods.
Commercials make me feel a little sick I mean putting these kind of thoughts in our childrens head. What are they thinking ? Just to sell the product that they are producing. Our kids are gowing up with the pressures put upon them at a very young age, younger than what they should be. It is hard enough growing up as it is, they don't need this too. All they want is acceptance is that to much to ask ?
i think the comericals affect people greatly because the people on the comercial are like perfect and people see this ahd they think they have to look like that to get people to like them and talk to them and they go to exteme lengths to look the way that the people on the comercial and sometimes people kill themselves trying to look like that and i think its wrong
the kids who watch commercials may be affected to them by changing the way thte want to look because they want to fit in and be like the people they see on the commercials. By the age of 17 their confidence may flip to being almost afraid or not afraid of anything this all depends on the commercials that are watched. The worst case scenario the could ever happen from these commercials is suicide. Remember that most commercials are not real.
If you see comercials that is based on your apperance and it says it will make you look better they're just trying to advertise.
I think that some commercials aren't bad but the ones that are that reflect on who you should be are a little bad because it pressures them into being someone they aren't. I think that it does affect many peoples lives because they think that they should be like that or else they are a nobody. The worst case scenario would be that they become anorexit or in the worst case they kill themselves because they aren't good enough. These commercials don't bother me.
If watching a 20 second commercial on tv once and a while thats based on appearance really effects the way a person thinks about themselves, they have problems. There's a lot worse things that can effect your self esteem such as other people, etc.
These kind of commercials are bad at advertising, because if they're advertising clothes or something they always have beautiful skinny girls that look good in what they're wearing but bigger people may feel bad about how they look because they can't look that good in certain types of clothes that are advertized on T.V.
I don't care about comercials that much. But I guess they kinda make them feel interested or make them feel bad sometimes. Yes I think it could affect their self esteem and self confidence but the ones directed at children are stupid at points and good at other times. The worst case senario would be they change their attitude just because they saw a comercial. I told you before don't care about comercials at all.
i think those commercials are bad for people to see becasue all they really is tell people that there are not good enough or not pretty enough so if u buy this it can make your life better. i think it was yesterday that i saw this AXE commericale and they had this pig and the one girls tells the pig to go find her a dirty boy and the commeriale is about boys with dirty hair and if u buy this axe shampoo girls will want to be ssen with u just like the other commericale by AXE that the same girl put these messy wigs on these "players" and told them to try to hook up with them and so they tried but all the girls made up these dumb reason why the didn't want to talk to them becasue of there hair so those commericale are bad becasue all there saying is that if u have bad hair tehn people don't want to be around you so u better wash your ahir with the new AXE shampoo.
I think kids should not let commercials make them think about whether or not they are good enough because as long as you think what you do your confident in that you do than that should be good enough. I think commercials like that are just stupid because they are trying to make people be people that they are not.
Watching this many commercials by the time you turn 17 is rank. i might make kids think nagative about themselves because they see beautiful people and they think that is what they sould look like or else they will think they are ugly. this isprobably most common in girls tho. the worst would be if the kids that watched those commercials all the time.. that they started to get very agresiveandd mean. the kids might think that violence isnt bad and nobody would get hurt. Most commercials are very boring and i dont care for them at all
I think commercials are affecting kids in different ways. Some commercials are pretty funny but some just make teens realize how much different their lives can be from others. Sometimes, other teens dont get affected. I think most of these commercials could affect some self esteems and confidences. Some commercials can make teens ,maybe, depressed mentally and they might need a councilor for problems. Some i've never really seen any commercials that have affected me so i can't really say how i feel, but you never know.
I think those commercials are not true and are not good for young teenagers because they make you feel not as good about yourself. When some poeple watch them and see what some people look like when it isnt real they try to be like them because they are insecure about themself,and have lack of self confidence. It may affect some kids because they wish they could be differnt becuase they dont like the way they are.
I think these kinds of commercials are a major confidence killer. These kids see them selves as being different than the people on the commercials, then they start doing things to change and its really not who they are. Then the drug scene could even start in and thats the last thing you need in your life. Some kids will also start dressing different or changing there hair color or stuff like that. These types of commercials don't really have an affect on me cause i don't really care how i look or how other people look

Most commercials on tv aren't even true because they edit lots of it so kids shouldn't let that distract them. They shouldn't change just because of a commercial. The worst case scenerio would probably be suicide
I tihnk that it makes some people feel bad because they want to look like that, but some kids really dont care about them and dont think they need to look like that. The people that do though would be affected and have a low self esteem, the worst case scenario could be suicide or they would try depseratly todo anything to look like that. Commercials like this dont really bug me at all, i dont need to look a certain way to be a happy person.
Kids see these images and want to be just like them and they compare them selves to the people they admire on these commercials. I think their self esteem is effected because you can/have heard many people say "i wish i looked like that", or "i wish i had that". Some people are affected by this and become anarexic and try to change their imagine to be like people they see. Commercials like that dont affect me.
This might make more people think that they could look like them and want to so they try everything to do that. The commercials shouldnt even be on television because that could classify as false advertisement, you dont need to look like the person on television to make you look good.

Commercialing is something alot of people don't care about. As for the rest, their attitude does change about themselves. Even if it is just for a commercial. It has a total change of your self esteem.
Young kids have always imitated what they see on tv and everywhere around them. They most likely think that if they don't look like those people on TV that they're not good looking or anything like that which is completely untrue of course.
I think that these commercials affect kids a lot and kill all of their confidence. These commercials affect their appearence, feelings and emotions all at once. The worse case scenario could be that some kids get so depressed that they dont want to talk to annyone or even see anyone. They just want to be alone all of the time.
