Day 9 Blog

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter found in the brain that is needed for normal functioning of the central nervous system. Speed is a drug that can be prescribed or can be found as a street drug, otherwise known as crystal meth. Its causes arousal in the brain and central nervous system. "Playing video games doubles the amount of dopamine in the brain which is equivalent to a dose of speed". What do you think about that quote? Believe it or not?

Comment on the Hypnotist you saw on Monday.

yeah i think it can because some people are so intesnse with gaming that they always get to that level not jus playing video games but even in real life. i liked the dude it was funny to see how one guy can control so many people.

That is basically saying that playing video games is like having a dose of crystal meth. That i don not believe.

Anonymous said...

I sort of believe it but it does depend on the amount of time and what game you are playing. If you aren't playing like a heavy war game or a really violent one then you are a little bit more into it then I could see it.
The hypnotist was good. I enjoyed it.

I don't believe it because i do not think that you can get that "high" feeling after or during a video game. Because it has never happened to me im pretty relaxed when i play video games. I think that the hypnotist was really cool. But i definently would not want to get hypnotized, i'd be too scared to because i wouldnt wanna do smoething stupid and embarass myself.

I think thats pretty crazy. But i dont think it would be a common thing to happen to the average person who plays games. I dont really see how someone could get a rush like that.

The hipnotist was amazing i think it pretty wild how he can make them act and the things he can make them do. I just dont know how real it is because some people werent affected by it but others were really stuck in it.

I think that this comment is awesome because one i hate drugs and two I like to play alot of video games when theres nothing to do and I believe this comment because of the fact that I know about video games and that once your into a video game you like your in a rush. The hypnotist I saw was awesome at the beginning when he put that spinning thing around it was cool to see how is head started to grow for some reason and also when he puts people to sleep instantly that was awesome and scary at the same time.

If this statment is true then videos games can't be a good thing for your central nervous system, crystal meth is the worst drugs out there or atleast one of the worst, i cant beleive that Playing video games can double the amount of dopamine in the brain which is equivalent to a dose of speed. I think the hypnotist i seen today was amazing you must need to practise alot to be able to do what that guy does, he was also very good at speaking. Some of the ways he hypnotized people was amazing.

I believe it i guess but video games obviously cant be as bad as a drug. Video games get into your head a different way than drugs do.

This blows my mind. I did not no that video games was like doing drugs.jk. That is crazy i would have never thought that if i wasnt told. The hypnotist was cool because he made people do stupid stuff. I cant believe that he could actually hypnotize people and make them do stuff an thepy don't remember it at all.

Anonymous said...

The quote is not very understandable.. Lots of people play video games and is not as bad as drugs, drugs are bad for your health and can be very addictive which can cause you to die. Video games can cause you to lose sight or hearing but nothing to serious that technology can't change.

The hypnotist was very cool to watch.

i think that they are the same and they both may affect you the same because doing that drug would mess up your brain and playing too much video games all the time could mess up your brain. so playing video games could damage your brain the same as using that drug. I think the hypnotist we had to day was really good i didnt expect that at all. He made them do awhole bunch of stuff i didnt know they could do.

I don't belive it because video games can't be that dangerous and speed must be much worse to have than playing your video games. On monday i thought the hypnotist was good because it was the first hypnotist show that i saw.

I really don't know about that quote. I play tons of videogames and I never at any time feel like I have taken a dose of speed but I do however go crazy and swear lots but I don't think speed makes you do that. That would be funny, however. If this is indeed true, I think they should get speed addicts to play videogames so they don't get messed up and don't have to pay for drugs. Oh yeah and the hypnotist was phenominal!

Anonymous said...

I do not believe that quote because drugs and video games are two opposite things. Playing a game can not completely destroy your body. Games and drugs can't affect your brain in the same way.

The hypnotist on Monday was very entertaining to watch. I enjoy watching hypnotist's because it is interesting to watch how someone can take over your mind like that and have you do things without your body knowing.

I don't believe this quote because when people play video games they don't get the same feeling as they would by using speed. Also, if it was the same as a dose of speed everyone would play video games and get addicted to video games as would a person who is actually on speed. I had never seen a hypnotist show before and i thought that it was awesome. I was amazed at how he could get the volunteers to do what he wanted them to even when they had their eyes open and awake. I really enjoyed the show that he put on, i would definately go and see it again.

WEll I think that it is a false statement. Sure you do get a rush from video games but for me personally it has no effects. I do enjoy the occasional video game but it is not an addiction. People are very rarely addicted to them and if so it is over a long period of time. I myself always fidegit and end up upset and walk away from video games. So I would say that it is a false statement.
Well I personally don't believe in Hypnotist therapy and I think that is is a con-art, and does not really work.

i think video games are useless. and personally i think they are a waste of time. why play video games when you could be out and actually have a life. video games do not help you in anyway just makes you better at the game which you dont need.i know people that play alot of video games, they could be awake all night if they wanted to. people who play video games get way to hooked way to fast.

i think the hypnotist was pretty cool i have never seen anything like that before. i think it was a good way to start everyones morning, and i dunno, it was just alot of fun. really funny at times too. :)

Anonymous said...

I don't believe that because i don't think a video game can do the same damage as a drug. I don't play video games, so it may do that but I am not really sure.

The hypnotist was very interesting and exciting. Everything that he did was funny.

I think that that quote is bogus. Of course i don't believe it! It's ridiculous. Yeah i play video games but i have never had that feeling and i know plenty of people that have played video games for a day or so straight but i don't believe this quote. The hypnotist was pretty cool i guess. I like the part when the guy kept putting band aids on.

I think that video games are okay if you play them for not that long but if you play them for a really long time you have a problem. Yes I do believe that quote.
The Hypnotist was interesting because i never seen a hypnotist before and he did some pritty crazy things.

Anonymous said...

I believe the quote because i know some people that play a lot of video games. In the summer and on weekends they basically stay up 24/7 just playing video games.

Watching the Hypnotist was pretty funny. I saw one before and they never did any of the same things but they were both really cool to watch.

Anonymous said...

i dont believe it because doing speed and playing a video games are totally different.

Anonymous said...

i do not believe in the quote because i dont play video games so i cant really say but some people do like playing video games all night and i dont undersatnd why
I thought the hypnotist was awesome it was so funny and weird at the same time.

I beleive Video Games get you thinking and might stimulate your mind I play over 1 hour a day. I just thinmk its fun though some people are really addicted and don't stop playing. A friend of mine that sits beside me in computers always talks about videogames and plays all the time he might feel the rush.

The hypnotist on Monday was good he did lots of funny stuff and he made them relax really quickly.

Anonymous said...

Yes I do believe it because I play video games maybe 3 times a week and I mostly play about 4 hours and after I'm done playing my eyes start to go tingly. So I think that people shouldn't play as much video games because they might they get a seizure for playing too much. The hypnotist was really good and I enjoyed it alot because he hypnotized them most of the time instead of talking.

Anonymous said...

No, I don't believe that quote. Obviously if you're playing a video games, you're enjoying yourself, or enjoy playing the game.

The Hypnotist I saw on monday was entertaining, he is good at what he does. I've never seen a hypnotist before.

I do not believe the quote because i think that it is impossible to play that much to feel the dose of speed off of a video game. I know it has been studied, but, it is still almost impossible.
I think the hypnotist was kind of good, some of the things he did I think were set up and somewhat fake.

Anonymous said...

I dont play enough video games to get that feeling of dopamine. I think that some kids do play enough video games to get that feeling and i think that they could get that rush. I know a friend of mine that sits by me in computers class and he talks non stop about games and i think he gets the high of it.

The hypnotist was pretty cool. It was the first one i seen and my friends say he is one of the best yet. I wish i coulda got hypnotized

Yes I do believe this because your body ecspecially your eyes are focusing at the game that you are playing. You are staring at the tv screen for so long that it can function up into your head just like taking the drug. You are going to be playing more video games then takin this drug.
I thought that hynotist was really sweet. I liked how he just snapped his fingers and the volunteers were asleep, and also it was sweet that they coudlnt move.

Anonymous said...

i dont think that playing video games is eqivalent to takin a hit of speed ahha. also the hypnotist was funny and it was cool i guess.

Anonymous said...

I do believe it because when I play video games it gets bettrer the more I play so i guess it is the same but can't be sure because i don't i hav'nt used meth and i never will video games are the thing that i use to get satisfactory

Anonymous said...

I think that this researcher has found a very good point. I am starting to think that I agree with what he has said because some people are really addicted to what they feel or the experience that they get form playing video games or being on the computer, and also it helps some people deal with there problems.

Anonymous said...

I think that video games are okay if you play them not alot but if you play them for a really long time then you have a problem whith it. Yes I do believe the quote.

the hypnotists was fun cause i never seen one before

Anonymous said...

I don't think speed and video games are the same because like many have said already, it's impossible really. I like to play games at some points and , yah, I get addicted to some of them but it really depends on what game your are playing. So I don't really believe it.

Sadly, I didn't get to see him.

Playing videogames can effect the mind, but meth does a lot more damage than that and most of the effects with the drug cannot be changed.
