Piracy means downlaoding something you don't own. It is illegal activity and you could be charged for it if caught. Many people download music and movies off the internet knowing it is illegal. It's so much easier to download songs you want rather than buying a CD. Some artists don't put their music on the internet because of this.

piracy - downloading something you dont own. you can be charged with something like this. i dont think downloading music and movies are so bad because if it was people wouldnt put them on the computer for others to download because someone has to put that song or that movie in the computer system. so if it is so illegal then dont put they stuff in the system.
piracy is when you download something illegally. I think its not really a big deal because everyone downloads music. i dont want to buy a cd bacuase i have an ipod and i wont like every song anyway. i dont think there are any legal alternatives or anything they can do about it

Downloading something you do not own is the deffinition of Piracy also it is an illegal activity. Well I realize that it is a crime but I feel that there is no way to stop it. Unless there is a bug or a virus that is attached to every little thing you download. I do not know much of the topic because I usually buy my CDs and share it with my friends. I do not steal it. I do not have time to watch movies or go to the theater. Some legal alternatives is buying the CD ripping it onto the computer and sharing it with a friend. The singers get their money and you get your music.

The definition of piracy is: to download something that you don't own. I feel that piracy is something that shouldn't be used be people today because it allows people to take a short-cut from actually buying the cd's and just downloadong them on the internet. People today download things off the internet all the time and it is just something that hes become really easy to do. I think that some people don't realize that downloading this content is illegal but i also don't think that if they knew that it would stop them from doing it. It is something that is going to be a lot of hard work and take a lot of time to try and get rid of off the internet. Some legal alternatives could be for the bands that produce the music to not let their music go on these downloading sites or for the movies to have laws not to get on thess sites. People also could just go and buy the cd's because some of the songs you get off of the sites aren't very good quality and if you buy the cd you know you are getting the best quality for that music and or movie.

Alot of people pirate movies or music, but the other people you take those things from bought the movie or music, so technically its not "pirating." Some legal alternatives would be a band blocking their music from the internet, and doing straight CD sales. Even on Itunes people buy a song and pirate it. I dont think piracy is a crime because people are still buying the album.
WELL...Piracy is a crime in Canada in only one way. Uploading. It is legal to download but illegal to upload. That's the law here in Canada. I remember in June of 2000 Metallica sued THEIR OWN FANS and Napster over the songs people have been downloading off the internet. I used napster back then so I was really angered but I could see where they were coming from but I figured why screw around with that when you make enough money from shows. Alice Cooper himself said that he was glad people were sharing his music over the internet, He thought of it as free advertising. I'm definately a pirate when it comes to piracy. I have downloaded nearly 4,000 songs from Frostwire/Limewire and probably around 100 movies. So lets see now... If I bought each one of those songs from iTunes or Amazon, whatever, the average price of a song is $1.00. So that's $4,000 I would have spent on songs and songs alone. Now the average price of a movie when buying from netflix or iTunes is $10. That's another $1,000 I would have went in the hole to buy that. I've also downloaded around 60 games in my day and the average price of a new game is $50 so that's another $300 or so gone.
My total: $5,300
I could buy a car with all that cash. Or blow it all on candy. So if Canada was to crack down on piracy laws I wouldn't be doing so well.

Piracy is downloading thing that you did not pay for. It happens all over the place. many people do download things. It does not bother me because I don't download anything. the bands could not put their music out if everyone does this. Piracy is a crime.
Yes I think it's a crime but their are alternatives use limewire it alows you to download music and it's legal and I have down loaded from the internet and I use it about 3 times a week.

People dont wanna buy the movie so instead they just download it then watch it when ever they want to. This is against the law, if ur not buying the movies then that means your not paying for them either which would be called stealing
This is a crime because people don't want to waste their money on movies/music instead they download it. Thats not the positive thing to do if you want music/movies you should go buy them not steal them from the internet. All it does is take videos that are in stores and download exact copies. Piracy is bad you can get a really big fine for downloading this stuff so DON'T!
The video shows a good point about stealing, there are lots of people who go on websites to downlaod music and movies for free. I personaly buy all my movies and music off itunes. It is just safer for my computer and doesn't cost to much.

I have never downloaded any music or videos on my computer, mostly because i have dial-up and it takes to long. I think this video has a point because it says you would never steal a movie so why do it on the internet. I would say a lot of teens download music and movies mostly because they don't want to buy the CD or Movie. Some legal alternatives would probably cancel all websites that allow free access to movies and music.
i dont think piracy can be stopped because people will always find new ways to crack codes and get whatever they want. i think people mostly download music because if you like a song jus a song then whats the sense of buying one cd for $20 when you can get it for free. i guess you could use itunes or something like that but it starts to add up after awhile
I didn't think about this much on steeling just copying music but copying videos are a little over the top since the new videos are around thirty dollars and you could be charged in the thousands and coud be sent to jail for selling the videos.

Piracy isn't just "downloading" something you don't own. alot of people download music for free on the internet and its basically impossible to do somthing about it because its for personal use. The most illegal form of piracy would be copying a movie, or cd to sell it to other people.
