I see hacking as good for some things like if there was a program for one operating system a hacker could make it availabe to other operating systems. Using the internet and technology in a bad way is when you give people computers viruses.
It hink that hacking is bad if people who are tring to steal information or give you viruses are able to do it. But if people are hacking just for fun or to change something about the computer it is ok because it does no harm to other computers. The internet should be used in ways that helps you but doesn't do bad things to other computers or slow down the web.
i think that hacking is a stupid thing to do like i dont even get why people do it to change other peoples thoughts to make them look stupid on msn and facebook and all the others like msn and facebook. I think that people who hack other people stuff are CHILDISH.
Hacking is illegal but yet people can still do them because some are so hard to catch or discover.
I think that hacking is just like anyother crime. There will always be crimes just like there will always be people hacking computers and using them in bad ways. I think that hacking is one of the more harder crimes to catch and are harder to find out who commited them then other crimes though.
It's unfortunate but hacking on other peoples computers is common. We use the honesty policy and hope that everyone uses the computer in acceptable ways.
We could barely here but i guess he was doing some illegal downloading what he was not post to do and he got sentence to 5 years in prison.
I think that it is good he is helping people with their security system problems now. Hacking to me is very rude and I think it is an invasion of private property. i personally would never ever try to use the computer in an unacseptible way.
Kevin Mitnick did not really steal anything he just made copies of it. Thats still probablly illegal but he did not have to go to jail for five years.
I don't think he should go to jail for five years for copying files because ha didn't technically steal them. He copied them so it di give the companies any financial loss. Maybe give him a fine or something but not five years.
I think hacking is really bad because its an invasion of privacy also your accessing illegal stuff from the internet shich is a crime but in the end that guy Kevin mitnick did the right thing.
I think it is very unacceptable for stuff like that to happen because some people trust the internet and knowing people like this man are out there reading your personal information is rather shocking.
I think hacking is a big part of today's computer society. If it exists on a computer it can most likely be hacked. I think hacking is completely wrong and anybody that does it should be caught and put in jail.

Hacking is something people do when they want to take something for free or control something over their computer. It is illegal so no one should do it. Its like stealing in a store and you dont do that so dont hack. People are taking advantage of the internet and are finding new ways to hack things.
I don't think this man should of had to go to jail for 5 years because he copied the files he didn't steal them. He should of just got a big fine or something, because he didn't take the files from the companies he just copied them, so other companies could still sell them.
I think that five years is alot of time spent in prison just for copying something. Most people who own an ipod or mp3 probably copy files too. And he is getting sent to jail for copying not stealing when we steal it is about a 100 dollar fine not five years in prison i think that this is a very extreme punishment and it is something that tons of people do every day
Obviously, hacking is wrong. Hacking, cyber bullying, stalking. It's a shame that the technology is used like that, beacuse it'd have no faults if no one abused it.
Hackng in my opinion is one of the most terrible things. Most people hack into other peoples accounts, some send viruses, these people should realize how much the thing they do affect other people and stop already.
I think that hacking is an illegal action and that whoever does it should be punished, being a fine, or jail time. But for this action I believe that people should not spend more than 4 years in prison. This sentence even exceeds those of much worse offences and therefore I think t should be short.
I have never heard of Kevin Mitnick before today. Hacking is a decently serious crime because alot of confidential stuff is on the computer that little hacking rats can find out and possibly blackmail the person or company.

I never heard of Kevin Mitnick before. I didnt think you could go to jail for that long, I only thought you could get charged or something. People shouldnt do that though because its invading peoples privacy and stealing information thats not yours.
Hacking is a really bad thing but it is kind of cool in the same way. You could control alot of stuff and have alot of power but like they say, alot of power means alot of responsibility. For example a hacker could change everything that the governments control and can create chaos.

i have never heard about this man. i think what he did was wrong, but it is good that he is helping the people that he hacked into to creat a beter secerity systom. i think he should have had less sentence time and more rehab time.
Before watching this video, I'v never heard about Kevin Mitnick. But, I did know that you can go to jail for hacking. This can get pretty serious and there's probaly lots of people in the world like him.

Kevin Mitnick should have known that it is wrong to take personal information in the first palce, but he didn't stop. I heard something about someone going to jail for hacking but not for 5 years. The fact that he did that makes me worried about other dangers on the web. We as users of the web, have to take the right precations.
I have not heard of Kevin Mitnick before and I knew you could go to jail for hacking but I had no idea you could get up to five years for just copiing a piece of information. I used to do some hacking and I know how to make viruses, but I have stopped that.
