Day 11 Blog
Dopamine is a neurotransmitter found in the brain that is needed for normal functioning of the central nervous system. Speed is a drug that can be prescribed or can be found as a street drug, otherwise known as crystal meth. Its causes arousal in the brain and central nervous system. "Playing video games doubles the amount of dopamine in the brain which is equivalent to a dose of speed". What do you think about that quote? Believe it or not?

I don't believe that playing video games can give the same effect as drugs. I can believe that it effects your brain, but it can't give you the same effect as taking a drug that can ruin your life.
I know palying games increases the amount but i didn't think it would raise it by double that doesn't sound realistic. Yes playing video games can cause weird stuff but I doesn't sound right. I play games and I am perfectly fine.
I really don't belive in the quote , i really don't belive a video game causes the same amount of effects as speed does to your brain. Then again i wouldn't really know. I don't play video games and i don't do speed. So it's sort of hard for me to belive in the quote.
Personally i do not think that Speed A.K.A Crystal Meth would be perscribed to a person. Speed is a street drug and can cause serious brain damage to a person. Playing video games is probably not the grestest thing to be playing 24/7 because it is bad for your eyes. I do not think that playing video games is equal to one dose of Speed.
I think that the statement about video games is like a dose of speed is false because there are some games that are educational for you and help you in real life
I think that is just absurd. If this were true, billions of people would have been high by now, because most people have at least played a video game at least once. To think this is pure nonsense.
Playing video games can't kill you unless you only play video games for a week. Were as speed ccan kill you after a few times taking it. Many people play video games and they don't all have health problems.
I believe that they both effect the brain and nervous system just not to that extent. Though i believe that crystal meth is way more severe than video games, i understand that video games affect you in the same way. My opinion is that crystal meth could and most likely will kill you, but video won't.
Crystal meth is a very bad drug and screws up your brain a lot but I don't think that video games doubles the amount of dopamine because if that would watching TV would too because it's both simply looking at the screen except that in video games you move your fingers.
I think that the statement about playing video games being the same thing as taking a dose of speed is false. Most popular video games now today do not require as much skill but more strategy. Take the common game call of duty. When playing against other people you have to think ahead about what you are doing in order to defeat your oppenent.
I don't think crystal meth can be prescribed to a person. I think the quote is scary because alot of kids play video games and their getting the same dose of dopamine in the brain as someone would taking speed.
I dont think that playing video games makes you have the same symptoms as being on speed or crystal meth.
I think this is not true. At m,y house we have two PS3's and I play one of them a lot sometimes and nothing has happened to me, so to answer the queston, no I do not think this is true.
I definitly do not believe plaing video games is like doing meth or speed. Video games are fine and enjoyable as long as your not in front of the screen for hours unend and you take breaks. If you have a balanced lifestyle with exercise and friends, video games are a fun way to spend some of your free time.
I do not believe this quote because I play videogames and I don't think this is happening to me. People that use Speed and Crystal Meth become addicted to it. I can play videogames for a long time but I can stop whenever I want. I absolutely think that this quote is untrue.
I don't really believe that quote to be honest. You said that dopamine is found in the brain for normal functioning right? And you also said that playing video games doubles the amount of dopamine, which is equivalent to a dose of speed. If dopamine is needed for normal functioning, than what would happen if it doubled? I don't think your mind would function better. But I don't really know much about this topic.
I do not believe that the quote in the blog today is true. My friends and I all play a lot of video games like call of duty. Maybe it is affecting our brains but a lot of us do it and everyone seems fine. I don't see videogames as a drug like crystal meth. I like playing video games and I don't know why a lot of people are concerned about it.
I definitally do not believe that statement because drugs would have a different effect because the chemicals aren't healthy so would have different effects.
I definitely do not believe that, if that much dopamine is pumped into your brain, wouldn't you be addicted? Because you are addicted to meth after the first try. I play vidoe games once in awhile and I don't think I have dopamine in my body.
I don’t believe it because all you’re doing is playing video games not taking drugs. I don’t think that is true. People that play video games do I guess get hooked on them but I don’t think its like speed.
ya i believe that video games are a natural adrenaline big time, when i am in my zone i am just pumped full of energy im pretty much vibrating and when i lose o get mad.
I don't believe that quote because not everyone feels that way when they play video games. I thinkg video games may make you feel excited at times, but not double the amount of dopamine in speed.
hi, no I don't believe that quote becasue when you play video games, I believe you get a diffrent kind of adrenaline, and some people dont get that same effect on playing video games. So no i dont believe that quote.
Its true that video game is bad for your brain.
But playing video game can't be equivalent to a dose of speed.
I play computer game alot about 4-5 hours a day, but I dont feel anything bad after I play.
I do get tired after but nothign related to dopamine.
I don't beleive that quote. Vidoe games might be bad for you but they could probly never be as bad as speed. If someone plays vidoe games all the time then maybe they should only play there vidoes game for a couple hours a day or cuty there hours shorter so it don't cause bad things
i dont believe it becuse i dont get energetic when playing video i just relax.
I cannot believe this quote. When ever i play games i get lazy and dont want to do anything else. It has the opposite effect on me.
I do not believe that quote because when I play video games its because im bored. I think that quote is unrelistic because your not taking any drugs to play video games.
I think that if you do play a lot of video games you should at least know your limit. I play a lot of video games, but I don't think that it effects me that much.
I do not believe that quote because i play video games and staring at a screen makes a person tired. I do believe kids under the age of 12 years that might affect them more then any other age but i don't believe that it is equivalent to a dose of speed.
For the quote "Playing video games doubles the amount of dopamine in the brain which is equivalent to a dose of speed," I do not belive it because I do not play video games. If I were to play video games, than I might belive it, but I would have to see it to believe it.
Hey, I believe that it does make u feel that ur on speed but when for an example yuor ona killstreak and your doing very good you dont wanna stop. It definately has a affective effect on me I PLAY IT ALL THE TIME.....
Being a person who doesn't play video games, I think that those amounts of dopamine caused by playing video games, DO cause trouble for the brain.
I think that the quote is not true, because what you learn about speed in school that it gets a different perspective on things and it makes things seem more real, you feel more, and it makes everything around you energized. As with video games it gets you pumped up and wanna play more and more, as one time when I played video games I could stay up all night playing them which I did a couple times before and I wasn't tired but as soon as you shut the system down it's like shutting your brain down and your done. But I do believe that it gives you a energy boost while playing.
I think that the playing video games does increase the amount of dopamine released by the brain, but I disagree with the quote. Speed is one of the most powerful drugs on the planet, and I don't think that playing a video game can match a dose of speed. Although they both do similar things, I don't agree with the quote. I do believe that playing video games does create some similar effects though. And if your wanting to feel the high of having an increased heart rate, Playing video games is the safer alternative.
Sometimes it might add some dopamine to your body because it feels good when you are playing good and you get into this certain zone. Once you are in this zone you don't want to leave it but once its gone you want it back. Some people might not know this feeling unless you have expirence in gaming which I have 110 day played and thats 2640 hours played on World of Warcraft.

I believe it.
