Watch this video clip on how far technology advanced from the era of the "scroll to the book". Think of what a new concept this must have been and how frustrating it may have been for some. 100 years later, can you relate the era of "hard copy print to electronic version". Where are your parents at with technology? Do they have a facebook account, an email account, a wiki space, a blog, are they on MSN or know how to log onto any of these applications. Do your parents read the newspaper on-line, or use google to research information. Do your parents use "snail mail" with a postage stamp or rely on their email account to stay caught up with friends and family? Comment on your parents' comfort level when it comes to technology.

My parents are both very young, they grew up with computers in there school. The only thing I have ever had to help my mom with was putting a picture on a website. My parents have facebook and email, to keep in contact with people either in my family that lives in different countries, or their co-workers, or their other friends from Kinsmen and Kinettes. My parents try to keep up with todays te4chnology and do read news on the computer sometimes, when something really interesting happens.
This is like current day because technology keeps getting more advanced and harder to use. My parents use the internet to find infomation and they have man without having any trouble they are comfortable with technology but they still have trouble with somethings such as typing. I would say that my parents know the basics od technology.
My father is comfortable with computers, because he has to use one daily at his occuptaion. My father does most of his work online, and we seldom use the mail system. At home he mostly Google's to research
My mom and dad are very into technology. They both have facebook accounts , and use email to contact family. They also send snail mail , as do i . But My mom and dad have no trouble wtih computers , defiantly not my mother because her job entails that she knows how to use a computer very well , there isn't time to ask questions. My dad is cuban and sometimes finds it hard to read the english text on a computer , occasionally he will ask for my help but after one explenation he knows what too do. Also my partners and my grandmother have msn. Because we have moved alot of my family got to communicate with me. My parents comfort level with technology is very good.
Neither of my parents use a computer because being farmers the computer isn't very helpful and is known as a time. If i were to go home today and see one of my parents on our computer it would be quite a surprise.
Technology has come a long way since scrolls and books. Different people have different comfort levels when it comes to using technology. My mom for example, is way more comfortable in using a computer than my dad. My mom knows how to google and log on to certain accounts. My dad on the other hand, has to ask us to bring up the weather forecast for him and google.
My parents are not very good with computers, my Dad never goes on one and my Mom needs help with everything when she does go on. My Mom knows how to do some things but not a lot.
My mom is not bad when it comes to computers, she has email and stuff, but my dad has trouble with computers.
My parents are very in touch with the computers because their jobs force them to be that way. My grandparents comfort level with technology is much lower because my grandpa always trys to play with all he settings on his computer and then he does not know what happened. He knows how to work microsoft word and his email but there is the odd time he can not open something, that is when he calls me to fix the problem.
Technology has taken a big leap. The internet has advanced many things. My parents understand the google search and email and your basic computer functions but still need help with alot of technology. They dont know how to work the PVR, they cant figure out how to burn a CD etc. My parents do not rely on the intrernet or spend much time on it.
I taught my mom how to use the computer to stay in touch with all our relatives in Ontario. She can now use email, msn and does her own research. I had to teach my grandparents to use the computer over the phone because she got our old computer. It's alot easier to teach in person though.
Technology has really changed in the past years. My mom has facebook and msn. She uses email to talk to family and friends and she is good at using the computer but my dad isn't.
The technoligical advancement has been very big in the last couple years. My parents have been able to keep up with it because my parents jobs require them to know how to send an email, type up a word document, and use google etc. The people that need the help in my family is my grandma. you need to write out basic intsructions for her to go on the internet, read an email, or even play a game of solitare on the internet.
It must have been frustrating to teach people. Yes i can relate to the era. My mom and step dad are pretty up to date with there technology. They both have facebook and a email account. My parent use google to research information. My parent are pretty comfortable when it comes to technology
My dad is very good with technology and he reads a lot on the computer. He always reads articles online and he can't live very long without the internet. He also uses e-mail as letters instead of mail. The video reminded me of my grandmother. She didn't know anything about technology and she always called us because she had problems with her computer. She was very amazed and now she is doing pretty good with technology.
I can imagine how similar that video about the scroll and the book is, with how computer technology is for some. My parents both know alot about computers. My mom uses a computer in her workplace every single day and she knows more than me in some areas. My dad know enough. They both own email accounts and they owned facebook as well, but they deleted their facebook accounts because of some privacy issues. My grandparents don't know a thing about computers. They were pretty shocked when my mom mentioned the "web camera."
Technology is a big thing in life right now. My parents have done very well adapting to the new technology. They both have cell phones and use them daily. With my dad's work he needs to use a computer and cell phone constantly so he has gotten better with that. My mom's work doesn't use a computer so much but she is pretty good with it. She calls me to help her out every once and awhile but usually she doesn't need me at all. They both use a lot of technology.
My mom doesn't use technology that much but the only one that does use it is my dad. My mom the only time my mom uses it is to check facebook, she doesnt often go on though. When she does she plays games. My dad Goes on our computer all the time to keep in touch with family and friends. on facebook but he does use email aloth though.
i think it would have been really frustrating for them because they would have these cool new things but dont understand how to use it.
Not many people in my familly use electronics. my dad barely uses the coputer and same with my grandparents. my mom and i are the only ones who use the computer in my house and I barely use it.
My mom and dad each have their own computer, they both know how to text and they both know how to use bluetoooth. My father has a blackberry storm, so he e-mails, texts and uses the internet on his phone write alot.
Hey, I think using computers are alot easier than books becasue people just write it out anyway on the computer from recent news, informtaion thats happening with business and events.
Our techinology has come a far way form a pencial and paper. The rate were going for techinology is super fast. Everyone has a cell phone, computer, gaming system, and television amd they are very effectiont in case of emergency ex: cell phones.
MY parents use technology a lot. They both have facebook accounts, MSN, email, and blogs. Because my grandparents live in a diffrent country the also use webcam and Skype. They read the newspaper oline. My dad has a home office so he needs to use the computer for everything that he does.
I think that this video relates to my grandma and computers. She has a computer without the internet. When she had it she didn't know how to use it. So she took the internet off. My parents sometimes ask me to help them use a computer but they know most of the basics.
My Dad is really good with technolgy he texts and emails and everything. Execpt my mom is not as great she can text but not too good but she knows how to run a computer pretty good. on the other hand my step dad knows nothing about technology hardly we try to teach him how to text and email and he doesn't get any of it.
My family only uses a e-mail to get ads from stores. My parents usually talk on the phone instead of sending post card and stuff like that. I'm the one that usually helps them when they are on a computer.
well I think the advance in computers is very easy for me but not much for my parents. I think it is good that we move ahead with the flow because if you dont accept technology after a while you just loose track of how to even work on a new system.
My parents comfort level with technology is very little. They do not have msn, facebook, or any other things out there. Whenever my parents need something e-mailed or to look up something on google, they always come to me for help such as sending picture to family members, and looking up hotel rooms from other cities/towns. Recently my mother asked me to teach her how to use google so she could do it herself, it isn't working out so well!
My mom knows computers pretty good brcause she taught it. My dad on the other hand checks the weather, hockey, and charlias banner on the computer and that is it. He is just learning how to text and sometimes sends me some interestin text messages since he didn't know were the space and back key was. They are getting better.
Hi, I'm kevin.
My dad uses computer everyday in his life, because he needs computer for his work.
But he only uses the programs he know, and he doesn't like to try new programs or new systems.
I play computer games alot and I am the one who knows most about the computer in my family.
my mom is good with tecnology she has facebook and email and she knows how to log on etc... my mom uses google when she need to look something up. my mom has accepted and is comfortable with tecnology.
My parents are very interested with technology and use it everyday. My mom works for a business that is based off of a website. (advertises homes on the internet). Also both of my parents, my aunties and uncles, and my grandma have a facebook account. My parents also check their email accounts regularily and have MSN accounts. Overall my parents are very comfortable with technology and use it in their everyday lives.
Through my life my parents had technology but they didnt really use it. Also they didnt really understand it. My father and my mother both do have a facebook account, and email account and MSN. Nither of my parents really use the internet to look at the news. Sometimes my parents use snail mail with a postage stamp, My mom is the person who knows more about the computer. For my parents there comfort level is pretty good when it comes to technology.
My parents and grandmother use email accounts. My mom and dad are more advanced than my grandmother because they actually explore the Internet and use Facebook. Somtimes all three of them get me or my sisters to help them to figure out computers but they get it next time. My parents receive "snail mail" but they only use it to send holiday cards mostly. My mother always needs help with the computer but she eventually gets it.
hi, my parents with technology are not very good, my parents would rather call then text and are old fashion, and they use the computer sometimes ,but most of the time they dont. My mom has a email and a facebook acount and my dad has a email. My parents watch tv to find the lastest things that happened in the world , yes my parents do use snail mail most of the time. My parents feel better when they use snail mail becasue then most of the time the people get it, and they very rarely use there email account. If they do use the computer they make ne reaserch what they need.
My parents are pretty comfortable wiht technology, well they arnt that old so they learnt pretty much everything.
I found that parents today are most likely at a 4-7 because most of them have cell phones and use facebook and other things with computers. I shouldn't be to hard to addapt but change can be hard.
